James Stanley Stephens

March 16, 1959 — March 15, 2019

James Stanley (Stan the Man) Stephens, 59, of Madison entered his heavenly home on March 15, 2019 surrounded by his family and close loved ones.

Stan is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy Crane Stephens; daughter Christi Stephens Key (Chad); three precious grandchildren, Lindsey, Maddie, and Caleb; mother Janie Stephens; brother Thomas Stephens (Margaret); loving in-laws, precious nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. Stan was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Lori Anne, and his father Ed Stephens.

Stan was born on March 16, 1959 in Huntsville, AL. He was proud to be a lifelong resident of Madison, AL and especially proud to be a part of the Bob Jones High School graduating class of 1977. Stan enjoyed his time playing football for the Patriots. Football was one of Stan’s great loves-especially Auburn football. Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Stan earned a business degree from Auburn University in 1986. His dynamic personality and love for people perfectly equipped him for his years spent in customer service. Stan spent his last fifteen years working as a help desk analyst for the NISC (Nasa Information Support Center), which afforded him the opportunity to speak with NASA administrators and even astronauts. Stan became a Christian in his youth and served the Lord in various capacities his entire life as a faithful member of the Madison Church of Christ. Stan was a friend to all and was loved by all who knew him. His ability to fill others with love and laughter will never be forgotten. This world’s great loss was Heaven’s gain.

Arrangements have been made for a visitation on Monday, March 18th from 4pm-7pm at Madison Church of Christ and a visitation on March 19th from 11am-12pm with the funeral service to follow at 12pm also at Madison Church of Christ. Interment will take place at Huntsville Memory Gardens immediately following the funeral service. To honor Stan and his love for Auburn, all are encouraged to wear orange and blue to the funeral service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Stan’s name to the Huntsville Hospital Cardiovascular ICU or Madison Church of Christ (World Missions).
