Bobby Byrum Rolin

Bobby Byrum Rolin of The Pleasant Hill community next to Ardmore, TN, departed this life at The North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens, AL on Saturday, June 15, 2019. He was born Oct.11, 1932,  in Rolin Hollow, Ardmore, TN, to Edward Daniel Rolin and Mary Margaret King Rolin.  He was a member at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church for most of his adult life. He served in leadership roles and enjoyed singing in the choir. Later in life, he attended and was very fond of the congregation at Pettusville UMC. 

He was a long-time business owner in Ardmore TN/AL (B&B Motors) and volunteered many years coaching youth recreational softball and baseball. He also coached several men and women’s fast-pitch softball teams. Beyond sports, he enjoyed being outside tending to cattle and keeping up with current events.

He served his country in the Air Force from 1951-1955, being stationed in South Dakota and London, England.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father along with seven siblings, Birdie Rolin Woodfin, Edward Daniel Rolin Jr., Pauline Rolin Jones, Nellie Rolin VanManen, Marcella Rolin Yadack, Perry Dean Rolin, and Stanley Rolin. 

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Norene Smith Collins Rolin along with seven children: Debra Collins Mitchell (Phillip) of ElKton, TN , Arlynn Collins McConnell (Jerry) of Ardmore, TN , Ronald Ray Collins (Glenda) of Prospect, TN, Veda Collins Stevenson (Mark) of Elkton, TN, Barry W. Rolin (girlfriend Kim) of Hendersonville, TN , Byron D. Rolin (Kelly) of Ardmore, TN and Mechelle Rolin Crews (Tim) of Athens, AL, sixteen (16) grandchildren and nineteen (19) great grandchildren. Additionally, he is survived by one brother, Joe Rolin of Prospect, TN and was blessed with many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Because of Bobby’s belief that ALL children deserve a chance to achieve whatever goals they set for themselves and that they should have a safe place to explore and develop, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Boy’s and Girl’s Club located at 29865 Park Avenue, Ardmore, Al 35739.
