Janie Eddlemon Foust

July 27, 1949 — June 29, 2020

Janie Eddlemon Foust, 70, returned to her Heavenly Father on Jun 29, 2020, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Her faith in God and devotion to her family strengthened her and gave her peace knowing she would be healed, either here on Earth or in Heaven.

Janie was born to the late G.W. and Ruth Eddlemon in Memphis, Tennessee, on July 27, 1949. She matured into a young lady in the tri-cities area of northwest Tennessee, and moved to Murfreesboro, Tennessee before her junior year in high school. Her family was a member of Southeast Baptist Church and one Sunday following worship service she met her future husband, George Andrew Foust. They were married March 30, 1969. She graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in elementary education in 1970, with George being commissioned into the United States Army. She spent the next ten years as an Army wife, living in Hawaii, Ft. Bliss, Texas, and Redstone Arsenal, AL. When George resigned his commission, they settled in Huntsville and raised their family, first at Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church and then at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Janie was always the strength and anchor for the family, holding them to high standards for right living. Yet, she was a kind, compassionate, and generous wife, mother, grandmother, and woman. For over forty years she served the Lord with love and compassion in the Preschool areas of her church. Her greatest love was serving in the Nursery, working with the youngest children in the church. She was often the first non-family person a young couple would leave their child with. Her gentleness, kindness, and loving spirit gave many young mothers and fathers peace of mind knowing that their child was in good hands. This was her gift and it allowed so many families to fully worship our Lord and Savior without worry for their child, leaving a lasting impression on both the child and the parents.

When her health no longer permitted her to serve to serve in the Nursery, she adapted by becoming a faithful member of her adult Sunday school class. Taking positions of service within the class, she always demonstrated the love of Christ in all that she did, serving as an inspiration to all.

Janie loved to travel with her family. Her favorite places to visit were The Great Smoky Mountains and Hawaii.

Janie’s most cherished things in life were seeing her two boys accept Christ, marry Christian women, and raise three granddaughters who have come to love the Lord.

Janie is survived by her husband, George; two sons, Mike (Delania) and Peter (Lisa); three granddaughters, Emma, Emily, and Hannah of Huntsville; three brothers, Larry (Jan) of Carthage, TN., Steve (Sherron) of Cookeville, TN., and Tom (Brenda) of Hermitage, TN., along with numerous nieces and nephews.
