Veronica Martin

December 1, 1931 — September 21, 2020

Veronica Blondina Martin of Madison, Alabama, formerly of Basseterre, St. Christopher (St. Kitts) passed away on Monday, September 21, 2020.  She was born to the late Ernest Saddler and Ursula Blackman on December 01, 1931.  Veronica is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Paul and two sons, Auckland and Anthony.

A devoted mother, homemaker and entrepreneur, Veronica was a remarkable cook and loved preparing dishes for her family and friends in her hometown.  Veronica was well known in her community where she and her husband once owned and operated Veronica’s Snug Cove, a café and small tuck shop.

Veronica “Ronica”Martin was the mother of 12 children.  Despite her large family, she always made time for everyone and provided love and support for her family.  She and her husband, Arthur Paul worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for their children.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and listening to different genre of music especially jazz music.  Veronica loved inspirational and motivational quotes.  One of her favorite quotes was “faith can move mountains.”   She was a member of The Saint George’s Anglican Church and gave of her time freely during her active years. 

Survivors include daughters: Joan, Enid, Elenor, Judith, Heather and Irma. Sons: Eustace, Arthur, Joseph, Lindsay, 28 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.  She also leaves her sister-in-law, Enid Quinlan of St. Kitts as well as many nieces and nephews.

 The family gives everyone who assisted with caring for Veronica their sincere, greatest and warmest gratitude.

Viewing ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 04, 2020, at 1:00pm at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home & Crematory and the funeral service will begin thereafter at 2:00pm.
