Brenda Merridee Bolling

November 2, 1941 — February 13, 2021

Brenda Merridee (Mooney) Bolling, a resident of Ardmore Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 13.

She was preceded in death by her parents Herman Casper and Virginia Dare Mooney.  She is survived by her three children Bobby Matthew Bolling (Jennifer), Jeffrey Scott Bolling (Kaye), and Jennie B. McCall (John); Five grandchildren Leigh Dougherty (Brannon), Drew Bolling (Jessica), Kristy Reeves (Eric), Jessica Hendrix (Drew) & Margaret Kobeck (Caleb); Six great-grandchildren Noah, Luke, Nate, Bryce, Gunner and Jackson; and by her three siblings Onna Jones (Jake), Patricia Kasem-Beg, and Michael Mooney (Grace).

She was born November 2, 1941 in Pennington Gap Virginia, the heart of the Appalachian mountains.  When asked why her birth certificate listed November 3rd as her birth date, but was celebrated on the 2nd, she replied that the country doctor that made the house call was “drunk.”  He had recorded the incorrect date on the birth certificate, and it was just easier to celebrate it a day early!

She was also known to many as Granny Brenda, and her greatest joy came from sharing her love of knitting, quilting, and beading thru many hand-crafted tokens of love.  Whether fingerless gloves, scarves, or hand-beaded pearl necklaces, each gift was her way of telling everyone they were special.  If someone ever offered to pay her for her efforts, she would refuse.  For her, the gift of giving itself was far more important than any payment.

No visitation will be held at this time; however, a memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at a later date.  Brenda wished to return home, so her ashes will be spread on the hill overlooking her childhood home in Pennington Gap.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made in her name to one of the following organizations:
