On Thursday, February 11, 2021, Bill Houghton, loving husband, brother, and father was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 74.  Bill was born on January 1, 1947 in Des Moines, IA to William (Pete) Andrew and Fannie Houghton.

Bill worked in the Information Technology field for a geological company in El Paso, Texas.  It was in El Paso where he met his wife Sandra West and the two were married on November 14, 1981.  Bill and Sandra moved to Huntsville, AL in 1991 where Bill continued his work in Information Technology as a civilian contractor for the defense sector, up until his retirement in 2015.

Bill and his wife Sandra attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL where they enjoyed the close relationship of many friends.  He enjoyed living every day for his Lord, was an avid student of the bible, and had a passion for serving others.  Whether volunteering in the community or working weekly on maintenance and upkeep activities around the church, Bill always had the right tool handy for any job.

Preceded in death by his father, Pete, and his mother Fannie, Bill is survived by his wife Sandra, his brother Cliff Houghton (Karen), his two children David Houghton (Michele) and Susan Coffey (Billy), niece Heather Houghton, three grandchildren Ricky Gill (Bethany), Elizabeth Houghton, and Sarah Houghton, and great grandson Colt Gill.

A Celebration of Bill's Life will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church on February 25, 2021.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm-3:00pm followed by the Service at 3:00pm.
