Marianne L. Diekmann, age 78, of Harvest, Alabama passed away at home with family by her side on February 26, 2021, from Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was born on November 1, 1942, to Raymond and Irene (Spartz) Einck in Slayton, Minnesota.
After graduating from OLGC School in Wilmont, Minnesota, Marianne attended Mankato State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology. During her career as a medical technologist, she initially worked at the Minneapolis VA Hospital and at the Hyperbaric Chamber Hennepin County General in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She continued her career in Lancaster, California, where she worked at the Antelope Valley Hospital and Lancaster Community Hospital. Before retiring in 2004 and moving to Alabama, she worked for a short time at the Beckman Corporation in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She loved crossword and sudoku puzzles, sewing, and reading. She was delighted in watching the birds and feeding the deer. She enjoyed playing card games and board games with family and friends.
Marianne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Vernon Diekmann; her son Michael Diekmann and his wife Julie, and her daughter Anne Diekmann; and by her sister Nancy Einck and her husband Andrew Fenemore-Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Mary Diekmann.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 5, 2021 at 12 noon, with visitation at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Road, Madison, Alabama. The mass can be viewed on the church’s Facebook page or through the Facebook link on their website. The interment will take place on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the Calvary Cemetery in Wilmont, Minnesota.
Although flowers are appreciated, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in its place.
