Rex Allan Sturdy

Rex Allan Sturdy “Papa Rex”, 64, passed away Thursday, March, 25, 2021 after a brief battle with Angiosarcoma.  He was surrounded by his beloved family at home in Harvest, AL.

Rex was born September 19, 1956 in Wichita, KS to Maurice and Wanda.  After growing up in Wichita, he married Pamela Sturdy, had two beautiful daughters and went to work for Boeing where he gave 40 years of service.  He worked in Wichita, St. Louis and Huntsville as an executive in Facilities Management.

In 2010, he married his wife PJ, and gained four great stepchildren.  He spent the last five years of his semi-retired life as a real estate agent for Quest then Keller Williams, where he thrived on helping families find their dream homes.

Rex enjoyed living life to the fullest.  He loved camping and boating, West Coast Swing dancing, scuba diving, playing golf and taking beach vacations.  Fourth of July by the tiki hut overflowing with friends and family may have been his favorite.  Working the Traeger with one hand, throwing the grandkids in the pool with the other…all while sporting red, white and blue hair.

Rex was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Milan.  He is survived by his father, Maurice Sturdy and wife Trudie; wife, PJ and sweet dog Danci;  two daughters, Jennifer Wyatt and husband Rich, Rachel Sturdy and fiancé Christopher Wilkinson; step children, Aaron Swenson and wife Ali “Lil Mermaid”, Angie Swenson, Ali Nichols and husband Josh, Gracie Banks and husband Zack; grandchildren, Zoie “Bella” and Luke “Freddie” Nichols, Everett “Rhettie” Wyatt, Elijah “Eli” Banks, and baby Swenson on the way; brothers, Richard Statton and wife Nancy Jo, Terry Statton and wife Janice; sister, Michelle Jelinek and husband Andy.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 27^th at 1:00pm at AM Booth Lumberyard in Huntsville, AL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Rex Sturdy Memorial Fund through Wells Fargo benefiting his grandchildren.
