Joseph Cavanaugh Jenkins

July 2, 1943 — May 30, 2021

Colonel Joseph C. Jenkins, US Army (Retired), 77, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 30, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Joseph was born in Indiana on July 2, 1943, to Byrl and Louise Jenkins. He attended Covenant College, Lookout Mountain, TN, and graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1975. 

Joseph had a long and distinguished career in the United States Army / Civil service as a Logistician with assignments throughout the United States culminating in his retirement from the Pentagon. His military decorations include the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susan; his son Nicholas (Eileen) Jenkins of Huntsville, AL; his daughter Mary (Elon) Hayes of Harvest, AL; and six grandchildren (Zachary, Luke, Sydney, Elizabeth, Anastasia, and Emilia).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, from 1pm to 3pm with a memorial service following at 3pm at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home, 16 Hughes Road, Madison, AL.
