Jimmie Mitchell went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2021 after a short illness. He is being cremated and will be buried at Price Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri. Graveside services will take place on August 14, 2021 at 10:00 am. He was born July 22, 1935 to Norman and Mullard (Lewis) Mitchell. He married Patricia Saunders on February 14, 1964 at Stewart AFB, in New York. She survives. Also surviving are one son, Jim Mitchell Jr. (wife Rebecca) of Madison, Alabama; one daughter, Rhonda Kunkel (husband Kory) of Denison, Texas; five grandchildren: Tyler Kunkel (wife Vanessa) Howe, Tx, Ryan Kunkel (fiancé Corinna) Denison, TX, Ashley Mitchell, Destin, Fl, Matthew Mitchell, U.S. Air Force, Las Vegas, NV and Jensen Kunkel U.S. Air Force, Virginia. One great grandchild, Ayden, Howe, TX. Also surviving is one sister, Carol Peck of Noel, Missouri and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild. His residence at the time of death was Huntsville, Alabama. He was a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force, and after retiring attended two years of technical school at Franklin Tech in Joplin – one for welding and the other for auto mechanics. He retired from the Air Force in 1975 and Talbot Industries in 2008. During his lifetime he worked for the Lord in many ways: as an ordained Deacon, church choir, bus ministry, and others. He loved the Lord. Over the years, his most enjoyed hobby was woodworking, but he also enjoyed fishing, dominoes, working puzzles, and eating out.
