Peter William Johnson

Peter “Pete” William Johnson passed away August 27, 2021--his 2 sons and daughter-in-law were by his side. He was 60 years old.

Pete is preceded in death by his wife of 22 years Maricleia Broza Johnson; his father Arthur Johnson; his mother Mildred “Louise” Anderson Johnson; and his brother Gary Johnson. He is survived by his loving sisters Susan (Scott) Turner, Sally (Jim) Stansik, and close sister-in-law Edicleia Marchant; dear sons Ryan (Autumn) Johnson and Derian Johnson; his beloved 14-month-old granddaughter Mari Johnson; and many other near and dear extended family.

Pete was born in Ann Arbor, MI on November 20, 1960 and resided in Madison, AL. In December, he would have been recognized for 20 years of service at Boeing Corp. as a principal software engineer. He received his bachelor’s degree at St. Olaf College and his master’s of science degree from Southern Methodist University.

Pete is described by family as “smart, hardworking, optimistic, positive, caring, and generous--a gentle giant with a huge heart.” His friends say, “he saw the best in everybody.” Pete was passionate about family, education, healthy living, and his relationship with Christ. He was a family man and would do anything for his 2 sons. They described him as their “hype man,” as he constantly cheered their successes in music therapy (Ryan) and chiropractic (Derian). Pete was spontaneous; he often took last minute trips to the beach, lake, or mountains, and didn’t think twice of an 8+ hour trip to visit his sons in Florida or Texas. He was a huge fan of Michigan football and Dallas Stars hockey. 

There will be a visitation and celebration of life service for Pete on Thursday, September 2 from 5:00-7:00pm at Cornerstone Word of Life Church in Madison, AL. Attendance is available in person or via Facebook Live.
