William Martin Evans

d. April 16, 2022

William ‘Bill’ Martin Evans (known as Bubba to some), a cherished father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague left his earthly body to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 16th, 2022 at the age of 87.  Born in Mobile, Alabama to his late parents William David Evans I and Annie (Murray) Evans, he spent his younger years growing up in Mobile before heading to college at his beloved alma mater, the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, where he received a degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA.  Before entering into a civil servant life in the DoD, he was a proud member of the USAF.  Upon discharge he moved to Huntsville, AL where he established roots and raised his children, spending over 50 years of his work life working on the PATRIOT radar before retiring at the age of 85.

Bill’s greatest joy in life were his two grandchildren, Sophia and Eli, who he spent as much time with as possible never missing a recital, sporting event, school program, play, or the opportunity for family dinners and activities.  Bill loved all sports, knew every statistic dating back decades, and especially loved watching and cheering for the Crimson Tide.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Anne Stalcup, and brother-in-laws Skeet Stalcup, Buddy Harbin, Jack Quinlivan and great nephew Russ Bradford. He is survived by his son David and daughter-in-law Wendy, his two grandchildren Sophia and Eli, his son Michael and daughter Catherine, his sisters Joan Harbin and Koochie Quinlivan, his nephews Page and David Stalcup, Hoyt Harbin, and John, Mark and Evans Quinlivan; nieces Laura Payne, Shaun and Ashley Stalcup, and Deborah Newberry.

Bill’s funeral mass will be held at the Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Church, 10509 Segers Road, Madison, on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 at 12:00 noon, with visitation starting at 11:15am. Bill will be transferred to his final resting place at a later date with a private family ceremony for internment of his ashes at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
