Boyd Franklin Carter

October 31, 1935 — October 7, 2022

Boyd Franklin Carter was born October 31, 1935, to William Alexander and Inez Usrey Carter.

Boyd was a graduate of New Boston High School in New Boston, Texas. He served in the US  Navy on the Heavy Cruiser CA 135, USS Los Angeles, and Naval Airline Defense Development  unit in Panama City, Florida. During his time in Panama City, he met his wife Olivia Cleghorn  and they were married on March 1, 1958. After serving in the Navy, Boyd worked with Otis  Elevator and Dover Elevator in the North Alabama area for 40 years before retiring.  

Boyd is preceded in death by his mother Inez Tyndall, brothers Hoyd, Lloyd, and sister Elizabeth (Liz).

Boyd and Olivia have 3 children, Jeff, Judy, and Jennifer, 3 grandchildren, Jake (Sarah), Erica,  and Jessica (BJ), and 6 great-grandchildren, Macie, Ella, Isaiah, Aisley, Tyler, and Axton. Boyd is also survived by his sisters Peggy Stone of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Brenda Hurdt of Schreveport, Louisiana as well as many nieces and nephews. was saved as a teenager at First Baptist Church in New Boston, TX. He was a longtime  member of University Baptist Church Huntsville, Meadow Brook Baptist Church Birmingham,  and is a present member at First Baptist Church Madison.  

His family writes,  

There were many great things about him but one of the greatest things was his love for Jesus  and his strong faith. He loved his wife Olivia with all his heart and loved all of his family dearly. He loved his country and always prayed for soldiers serving today. He loved milkshakes and  

his Alabama Football! We will miss his jokes, pranks, and all the stories he told us of his life but  are so blessed to have many memories with him.
