Joseph David Allen Laughery

October 7, 1990 — December 2, 2022

Joseph Allen “Joe” Laughery, 32, of Huntsville AL passed away Friday, December 2, 2022.

Joe is survived by his daughters Lydia and Lindsey Laughery, his son Parker Laughery, and their mother and his former wife Brittany Swan. Joe is also survived by his mother and stepfather Kathy & Ray Eason; father Jeffrey Laughery; sister Taylor Laughery Shaw (Eric); nephews Aiden Brown, Avery Brown, and Alexander Shaw; grandparents Ronald & Mary Bunner; aunt Rhonda Moore (Troy) and cousin Quinn; uncle Ronald Bunner (Beth) and cousins Sydney and Payton; uncle Steven Bunner and cousins Veronica, Bryce, and Aislynn; and unborn baby boy and his mother Makayla Elizabeth Westcott.

The things Joe loved most in this world were his children Lydia, Lindsey, and Parker, his faith in God, his family, the ocean and mountains, sunrise and sunsets, music, dogs, spending time with friends, and Alabama “Crimson Tide” football. He was happy to have another child on the way. Joe had a huge heart, he loved deeply, and helping others is what he did best.

Joe wanted nothing more than to be a good Dad to his children and the man his family would be proud of. The last few years he struggled with addiction. He wanted his life back and was willing to fight for it. He faced the battle with an amazing attitude.  We watched as he regained his self-esteem and self-worth. He believed in helping others who fought the same war. He fought hard with everything he had but, in the end, after several months clean, he relapsed, lost the battle and he died from an accidental overdose. Joe knew how deeply his children loved him, his sister, his mother, stepfather, grandparents, father, and all of his family. He knew we never gave up hope and had great respect for his courage and the way he fought his battle. There is no shame. Joe was loved by many who will cherish the memories and ensure his children will grow up knowing what a wonderful, loving, and kind man their father was.

On Friday, December 9th, 2022, we will Celebrate Joe’s Life at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison Alabama. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:00 PM CST with a Service to follow at 2:00 PM CST. His stepfather Ray Yelverton Eason will be officiating. To all that have given their love and support to Joseph’s family, we thank you. We were very proud of Joe.
