She decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, graduating with honors in 1976. She became Director of Nurses at North Alabama Regional Hospital which was the area’s only psychiatric hospital. After she retired from nursing, she published several genealogy books and one about her daughter Roxane’s stroke. In her spare time, she loved to paint, sew, cross stitch and needlepoint. Her many cross stitched, beaded angels are stunningly beautiful.
