Alice Virginia Webster, lovingly known as “Shin” to her family, met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday evening, February 16, 2026. Surrounded by those she loved most, she stepped into Heaven whole and restored, free from pain and suffering. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in the promise that she is healed and at peace in the presence of her Savior.
Virginia was born on January 25, 1940, in Athens, Alabama, to Oscar Fritz Paulk and Sarah Elizabeth (England) Paulk. As the youngest of sixteen children, she grew up in the community of Leggtown. She graduated from West Limestone High School in 1958 and soon began a long career at Redstone Arsenal. After 35 years of dedicated government service, she retired as a contract specialist, known for her strong work ethic and steady leadership.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Clifford; her children Tammy (Greg), Jackie, Wayne (Kelly), and Sharon (Terry); her beloved grandchildren Joshua (Leslie), Matthew, Charity, Allison, Morgan,Taylor, McKenzie, Paityn, Jonathan, Cissy (Jake), Lauren, and Nathan (Emily); and her precious great-grandchildren Nolan, Jed, and River. Each one was a source of immense pride and joy in her life.
Virginia was a gifted baker whose cakes became staples at birthdays. Yet, her greatest gift was the love she poured into her family. She was a steadfast wife, a nurturing mother, and a proud “Granny” whose wisdom and warmth left a lasting imprint on generations. Known for her intelligence, spunk, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her faith and family, Virginia lived a life rooted in service and love. She was a longtime member of Madison Street Baptist Church in Athens and Madison Baptist Church in Madison, where her faith remained a guiding light throughout her life.
She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of faith, strength, and love will continue through those she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held at Legacy Chapel in Madison on Friday, February 20, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Fowlkes Cemetery in Monrovia.
