Amanda Jo Statum

Amanda Jo (Statum) Gamez, age 30, passed away peacefully at home in Madison, Alabama on Saturday evening, June 14th 2025. She was born November 28th 1994 in Huntsville, Alabama. Amanda is preceded in death by her mother Teri Jean (Shafer) Statum and survived by her husband Jesus “Jesse” Gerald Gamez, sister Dana (Statum) Letterle and father David Statum.

Amanda was a member of New Life Chapel where she had many loving friends. She enjoyed studying the Bible and making magazines for the Bible study groups.

Amanda was an honors graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science in Apparel Design and Production Management, and was a very talented designer.

Amanda enjoyed traveling with her husband, and gaming with her worldwide community of friends. She was a fan of anime, went to conventions, designed her own cosplay clothing, and taught herself Japanese to translate comics. She loved sewing and designing patterns for clothing and other crafts.

Amanda was a beautiful gentle soul who will be greatly missed. She had a special way of touching the hearts of people. Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.

Amanda’s funeral will be held at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison Alabama beginning with visitation at 12:00 noon. Service will be at 2:00 pm followed by interment at 3:00 pm at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made towards a grave side bench for Amanda through Tammie at Huntsville Memory Gardens 256-837-7110 to the account of Jesus Gamez.
