Andrew Alan Schorr

Andrew Alan Schorr (Andy) passed on March 31, 2023 at home with family at the age of 62. He was born February 10, 1961 to William and DonNita Schorr and grew up in Sparta, Illinois. Andy graduated with his bachelors in mechanical engineering from the University of Southern Illinois in 1985 and accepted a job with Martin Marietta (Lockheed Martin) in Denver, Colorado where he met his wife Stacy. After accepting a position with NASA in 1991 he moved his family to Huntsville, Alabama. Andy was passionate about his work with NASA and his contribution to space exploration, including the success of the Artemis I launch. Throughout his successful career Andy received numerous awards including a Silver Snoopy and an Exceptional Achievement Medal among other recognitions. He retired in February 2023 as a Senior Executive Service (SES) leader with NASA after nearly 32 years as a federal employee. Andy’s many hobbies included cooking, hunting, sailing and hiking with his dog Taco. His greatest joys in life were his daughters and granddaughters. 

Andy is preceded in death by his daughter Morgan and sister Joyce Anne. He is survived by his wife Stacy, daughter Erika and spouse Armando, granddaughters Nora and Isabel, daughter Rachele and fiancé Chad, parents William and DonNita, and sisters Carol and Beverly.
