Betty Millican Hale Coleman

     Betty Millican Hale Coleman, 80, of Madison passed away on April 9, 2024.  Mrs. Coleman was a native of Vinemont and graduated magna cum laude from Cullman High School in 1961.  Mrs. Coleman graduated cum laude from Calhoun Community College and Athens State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
    Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her husband, James H (Jim) Coleman, her parents, Richard C Millican and Otella Reynolds Millican of Vinemont; sister Fay Millican Dorr of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother James Russell Millican, of Las Cruces, New Mexico.
    Survivors include one sister Carol Millican of Jacksonville, Florida; daughter Carolyn Coleman Plank and granddaughter Jessica, both of Madison, Alabama; son James H. Coleman of Hartselle, Alabama; son Chris Hale and wife Felicia and grandsons Brice and Blaine of Falkville, Alabama; son Philip Hale and wife Ashley Elizabeth and grandchildren Tyler, Kaitlin, Emily, and twins William and Benjamin, named after their grandfathers of Collierville, Tennessee.
    Betty moved to Huntsville while employed with the U.S. Army Missle Command as secretary, budget analyst and program analyst, retiring with 32 years of Federal service.  Betty was later employed for (2) years by the Strategic Defense Command and L3 Communications as a program analyst.
    Betty was a member of the Madison Garden Club for many years and was President of the club from 2004-05.  She served as President of the Federated Garden Clubs of Huntsville and Madison County in 2006-07 and District I Vice Director of the garden Club of Alabama, Inc. in 2008-09.  Betty was an accredited Flower Show Judge and received many blue ribbons for her horticulture exhibits of floral designs.
    Funeral services will be by Legacy Chapel Funeral Home, with Pastor Eric Thomas officiating a graveside service on Friday, April 12, 2024 beginning at 1:30 PM at Huntsville Memory Gardens.  
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
