Harvest

Edward Lawton McCoy of Harvest, Alabama, entered into the presence of his Savior on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 8:38 a.m. While his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the legacy of faith, love, and steadfast devotion he leaves behind.

Born in 1965 in Clayton, Georgia, to James and Blanch McCoy, Lawton grew up learning the value of hard work, humility, and quiet strength- qualities that would define his life. In 1991, he married the love of his life, Sue McCoy. Together they built a beautiful marriage grounded in faith and partnership. In 1999, they made their home in Harvest, Alabama, where they planted deep roots and raised their family.

Lawton devoted 41 years to The Boeing Company, faithfully providing for his family and modeling integrity in every task he undertook. He lived out the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:11–12: to live quietly, work diligently, and walk honorably before others. His life was not loud, but it was powerful in its consistency and character.

His greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a husband and father. Lawton was deeply devoted to his children; Emily, Haley, Andrew (Emily), and Jacob (Somer). He delighted in their accomplishments, supported their dreams, and quietly sacrificed so they would have every opportunity to thrive. The lessons he instilled- faithfulness, perseverance, humility, and love- will continue to guide them for generations to come.

He was a man marked by humility, integrity, and sacrifice- but also by steady laughter, dependable presence, and a heart that found joy in the simple blessings of life. Whether through a steady hand, wise counsel, or faithful example, Lawton shaped the lives of those around him in ways that will never fade.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Blanch McCoy, and his brother, Lathan McCoy, and we trust there was a joyful reunion in heaven.

Left to celebrate his life and carry forward his legacy are his beloved wife of 35 years, Sue McCoy; his children, Emily, Haley, Andrew (Emily), and Jacob (Somer).

Lawton’s life was a testament to a man who loved well, worked hard, and walked faithfully. Though he is absent from this earth, his example lives on in every life he touched — and in the sure promise of eternity.
