Freida Yvonne Jordan (Cagle) daughter of Charlie Houston and Annie Lee Cagle (Radford) was born August 6, 1939 in Mount Hope, Alabama. She attended Mount Hope school, graduating in 1957, where she was homecoming queen.
She grew up attending Hickory Grove Cumberland PresbyterianChurch and was baptized there in 1953. Later in life, she joined the Westlawn Baptist church in Huntsville, AL, and then the First Baptist Church of Madison, AL. She loved her Lord and served in the choir and as a faithful Sunday school teacher for many years.
On June 15, 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wayne Louis Jordan of Clay Center, NE, in Mt. Hope, AL. One son, Michael, was born to this union. In 2022, this couple celebrated their blue sapphire wedding anniversary having reach the tremendous milestone of 65 years of marriage.
After marriage, Freida and Wayne lived in Huntsville, AL, then moved to Madison, AL in 1987. Freida’s first job was at Hornbuckle’s Record Shop for Mr. Arnold Hornbuckle. In 1959, Mr. Hornbuckle founded WAHR FM radio. She worked hard and made her way up to general manager until the radio station was sold in 1999, after which she retired from broadcasting. Freida enjoyed reading her bible, watching her hummingbirds, and sitting on the deck of the lake house. She collected teapots, enjoyed reading, and most of all spending time with all the people she loved.
Freida leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband; her son, Michael (Susan Becton), two granddaughters, Annie Lee of Madison, AL and Ashley Lynn of Birmingham, AL; sisters Margaret Martin, Patricia Clements; brothers Vern and Don. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Mildred Martin, Marie Holderfield, Glen Mitchell, Mavis Weaver, Dorothy Appleton, Elizabeth Baker; brothers Charlie Cagle Jr. and Dwight.
In leu of flowers, please make a donation in Freida’s name to First Baptist Church of Madison, 4257 Sullivan St, Madison, AL 35758.
