Gerald Lee McKinsey (Gerryjoined his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen McKinsey (Combs), in Heaven on February 22, 2024, nine years to the day of her passing.  He was 87.

Born June 12, 1936 in Fountain CountyIndiana, Gerald spent his childhood in Crawfordsville, IN and graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1954.

In 1958 Gerald graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Business. After graduation he served two years active duty in the U. S. Army as a logistician, then was in the Army Reserves for five years earning the rank of Captain.

Gerald found his civilian calling in technology sales, where he excelled.  He worked for Burroughs Corporation for over 17 years, first from Indianapolis then later moved to Muncie, IN.  In May 1982 Gerald started Keystone Consulting Services, Inc., a pioneering computer hardware and software business that focused on automating accounting systems for Indiana governments and schools.  In 2003 he sold the business and retired to Madison, AL, where he enjoyed family, his Harley Davidson, and his bulldogs.

Gerald was gregarious and outgoing, putting strangers at ease wherever he went. He was an avid collector of many things, with his main passion being model trains. His train collection and layouts were a wonder to behold.

Gerald’s caring, fun-loving personality will be missed. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Jason Thomas Odell and Velma McKinsey, and his wife of 56 years, Mary Ellen McKinsey. He is survived by daughters Kathleen Diamant (Bryce) of Madison, AL, Karen McKinsey (Matthias Geiger) of Madison, AL, and Keely Kurth (Peter) of Raleigh, NC, and by grandchildren Hannah, Grant, Meridian, Carter, and Julian. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
