Gerald Thomas Steele

Gerald T. Steele, 67, of Huntsville Alabama, formerly of Dolgeville and New Hartford, New York peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 22, 2025 after a brief illness.

Gerry was born October 7,1957 in Little Falls, NY the son of Robert and Patricia Steele. He was a graduate of New Hartford High School class of 1975.

Gerry began working at a young age. He had a paper route, pumped gas at his family's service station and sold black market candy bars to his classmates in grade school. As a teen and young adult, he worked in the food service industry and managed a fish hatchery. In his adult life, he led a successful career with the New York State Department of Corrections, from which he retired. Shortly after his retirement, Gerry embarked on two cross-country trips, fulfilling a life goal to explore the beauty of our country.

Gerry is survived by his son Jeremy Steele, his former wife Shirley Steele, and his siblings Robert Steele Jr., Patricia Douglas (Rodney), MaryLynn Steele and Tammy Konicki; step-siblings Lori Wielgosz (Al), James LaBarge (Kristina) and Susan Dauck (Mike). He is also survived by his in-laws of his previous marriage, Roy Feig (Katherine) and Susan Kozlowski (John); his nieces and nephews Robert, Kassady, Rhiannon, Vanessa, John, Christine, Kathy and their spouses and children; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Gerry was predeceased by his parents, his step-mother Mary, his brother Daniel Steele, his nephew Daniel Jr., his step-sister Kathy LaBarge, and brother-in-law Gary Konicki.

Following Gerry's wishes, no typical funeral or wake services will be held, but the family will arrange a celebration of life at a future date.
