In Loving Memory of Harriet A. Folts

9 March 1930 – 8 June 2025

We announce with sadness, and gratitude for her time with us on this Earth, the passing of Harriet Ann Folts on June 8th, 2025 at the age of 95.

Harriet followed her husband of 73 years, Norman, just 12 weeks after his passing in March.

Harriet was the second daughter of Harry Sasse and Margaret (Arndt) Sasse. Born in Green Bay, WI on 9th March 1930, where she grew up and attended Green Bay (West) High School graduating in 1948.

Harriet was a child of the Great Depression, and the 1930’s defined many things about her, particularly her thriftiness, creativity, and perseverance.

She attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she met Norman in 1951 and they were married the next year in March of 1952. Norm and Harriet would then travel to his first US Army duty assignment at Fort Detrick, MD. There, Harriet and Norm had their first child, Daniel in 1954.

Harriet and Norm returned to home in Walworth County, WI in 1954 and in 1956, she gave birth to their second son David. Their third son, Douglas, was born in 1959. In early 1962, Harriet and Norm and their three sons moved to Rochester, MN.

In 1964 - 1968, Harriet was employed as a research librarian at the Mayo Clinic where she managed the Clinic Journal Library and research articles published by the medical staff at that world famous institution. Harriet gave birth to her daughter Laura in 1968.

In 1969, Harriet, Norm, the three boys and Laura returned to Janesville, WI. There, all their children would graduate High School and go on to attend Universities in the State.

Harriet and Norm officially retired in 1994 and travelled extensively across the US and made a few ocean cruises before moving in 2007 to Madison, Alabama.

Harriet and Norm enjoyed singing in church and she was active with the Sweet Adelines (Barbershop singing) choruses.

Harriet was active in the Girl Scouts of America while Laura was growing up in Janesville. She was an avid bowler for decades, loved needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles and volunteered at the Janesville Blood Bank.

Harriet is survived by her children Daniel, David (Silvia), Douglas (Susan), Laura (John); grandchildren Patrick (Alicia), Emma (Peter), Ashley and Ryan; and future great-grandchild from Emma.

Rest in peace, Harriet Folts. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
