Herbert (Herb) Edwin Goodrich, 92, of Madison, AL, passed away on June 28, 2024. He was born on July 10, 1931, in Chester, PA, to Thomas Goodrich and Emma Rudge.

Herb was a test engineer for PPG Industries in Huntsville, AL, and was known for developing the Bird Impact Gun for testing aircraft windshields. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, surveying the Alaskan territory before it became a state. He had a passion for cars, golf, and Pittsburgh Steelers football, and was deeply involved as a lay leader in the United Methodist Church.

Herb is survived by his beloved children, Jeffery Goodrich (Union Grove, AL) and Susan Brown (Greg Brown) (Harvest, AL), and his grandchildren, Joshua Brown (Florence, AL) and Rebecca Brown (Harvest, AL). Herb is also survived by his brother-in-law, Nicholas Isoldi (Melbourne, FL), and his sister-in-law, Carol Goodrich (East Pittsburgh, PA).

Herb was preceded in death by his dear wife, Frances Ucman; his parents, Thomas Goodrich and Emma Rudge; and his siblings, Arthur Goodrich, Thomas Goodrich, and Donald Goodrich.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Huntsville Memory Gardens on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Herb’s memory.
