James George Holvey

James George Holvey (Jim) age 74 of Harvest, Alabama was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus after a year long battle with cancer on May 17, 2025 in Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, Alabama. He was lovingly surrounded by many family members at the time of his death.

A memorial service will be held at CrossPointe Church, 78 Hughes Rd. Madison, AL on May 30, 2025 with Pastor John Dees officiating. Visitors will be welcomed from 10 – 11 am with the memorial service following at 11:00 AM.

Jim was born in Kingston, Pennsylvania to Ruth and Roland Holvey on November 14, 1950. He went to high school at Emmaus High School in Pennsylvania and graduated in 1968. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Austin Peay State University in 1973. He was currently employed as a Commercial Kitchen Specialist for Bresco Inc. He loved to cook for people at his house; he loved to entertain and make people feel valued. He considered grilling his specialty. He was an active member of CrossPointe church and chairman of the facilities committee. He loved the Lord and he was an active member of the men's ministry group. Jim was a people person, he had an outgoing personality and he never met a stranger. He loved his children and his grandchildren; they were the joy of his life.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sharron Holvey of Harvest, AL. Jim is also survived by sons Jacob (Jennifer) Holvey of Louisville, KY, Joseph (Jaime) Holvey of Villa Rica, GA, Stepchildren Cathy (Mike) Banks of Huntsville, AL, Stanley (Amy) Pietrzak of Huntsville, AL, Kenneth (Sondra) Pietrzak of Deatsville, AL and Bryan Pietrzak of Huntsville, AL. He was fondly called Papa Jim by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Jim is also survived by his brothers William Holvey (Karen Morse) and Ron (Gail) Holvey, and his sister Judy May.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Holvey and his father Roland Holvey.

A small graveside service will be held at a future date.

Flower donations should be delivered to CrossPointe Church on Thursday May 29th by 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Jim's favorite charity, The Downtown Rescue Mission at 1400 Evangel Dr, NW, Huntsville, AL 35816 or the American Cancer Society.
