Joan Evans Jenkins

Joan Evans Jenkins, age 72, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. 

She was born on June 29, 1951, in McMinnville, Tennessee to Gene and Elyese Evans. 

She met the love of her life, Edwin Fred Jenkins, at 15 years old, married him at 18 years old, and they spent 54 wonderful years together. Joan’s heart was in missions and ministry. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She devoted her life to being a Christian homemaker and serving in ministry alongside her husband, Edwin. 

Joan is survived by her husband, Edwin Fred Jenkins; children Andrew (Beth) Jenkins, Matthew (Jennifer) Jenkins, Mandy (Frank) Cohee; 17 grandchildren; sister Janet Kendall; brother David Evans; and many nieces and nephews. 

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 228 Mt. Zion Rd, Huntsville, Alabama 35806 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with the funeral service following at 3:00 P.M. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Missions Ministries at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
