Kenneth Reid Abel, age 90, passed away May 22, 2025 at home in Huntsville, Alabama surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer. Kenneth was born March 16,1935 to Wilson Pete and Cora Lee (Reid) Abel. He married his high school sweetheart August 13, 1955. Kenneth served with the United States Army and Alabama National Guard for 43 and1/2 years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Kenneth lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures and enjoyed spending time with his devoted family. He is survived by his wife Patsy Waters Abel, daughters Kimberly Abel, Huntsville, Alabama, Keely Abel (David Pannell), Huntsville, Alabama, son Reid (Laura) Abel, Camden, Alabama and two grandchildren Alex Abel-Boozer and Ransom Redman, nieces Cathy Kessler, Kayla Browning, nephews, Wilson Pete Abel, Allen Waters and Daran Waters and further survived by other relatives and friends.

Kenneth was a lifetime member and past Grand Master of the Glencoe Masonic Lodge #846, Zamora Temple Shrine and was a member of The United Methodist Church. Graveside service at Forrest Cemetery on June 14, 2025, at 11:00am with Masonic rites and Militaryhonors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Kenneth’s memory may be made to the following: St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105); Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (Donation Processing Center, PO Box 5041 Boone, IA50950-0041); Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Research (504 RXR Plaza, Uniondale, NY 11556).
