Marian Dorothy Furno

Marian Dorothy Furno, 88, of Madison, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, in Huntsville, AL. She was born on June 11th, 1937 in Chicago, IL. She met the love of her life, John Anthony Furno, in a typing class. They married on July 8th, 1961 and had four children before moving to Huntsville, AL in 1973. While raising four young children, Marian earned a Registered Nursing degree from UAH. After graduation, she worked over 20 years as a nurse in Huntsville, primarily in the home health industry. Marian had a deep love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. She also had a love for animals, especially the many pets she had over the years, working in her yard, traveling with her husband, and helping others. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Food Line. After the loss of her husband, Marian moved to Merrill Gardens in Madison where she was involved in activities, classes, and field trips.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Dorthy Wallace, and her husband of 61 years, John Anthony Furno. She is survived by her children, Michael Furno (Cheryl), Christopher Furno, Kathleen Furno Shelton (John), and Daniel Furno (Kim); grandchildren, Nicole Hall (Michael), Jason Furno (Haley), Emily Mason (Andrew), and Anthony Furno (Molly); and two great-grandchildren, Judah Furno and Gracie Hall.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1055 Hughes Rd, Madison, AL 35758. A visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am. A small reception will take place following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Vincent de Paul, St Judes Children’s Research Hospital, or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
