Mark Wayne Williams—a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend—passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in Huntsville, Alabama.

Born on August 27, 1948, in Florence, Alabama, to Samuel Hobert Williams and Frances Louise Balch Williams, Mark was raised in Lexington, AL. and graduated from the University of North Alabama. On January 5, 1974, he married the love of his life, Arlene. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and service. Between 1979 and 1983, they welcomed three children—Lydia, Janene, and Luke—and settled in Madison, where they lived happily for more than 45 years.

Mark proudly served his country as a Master Chief in the U.S. Navy Seabees, with deployments in both the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm. Upon returning home, he transitioned into a successful career as a real estate broker. He served as President of the Board of Realtors in both Huntsville and Athens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lydia Claire Williams; and his sister, Connie Pierce.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Williams; daughter, Janene (Jake) Frye; granddaughters, Marley and Lanie Frye; son, Luke Williams, and granddaughter, Harper Williams. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Fleming and Jenny (Jay) Mooney; his brother, Danny (Marilyn) Williams; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Old Black Bear, 212 Main Street, Madison, AL 35758.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children’s Hospital of Alabama or Ronald McDonald House.
