Maureen Ann Sumera

Maureen Ann Sumera, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2023. She was born on October 27, 1945, in Buffalo, New York, to Patrick and Kathleen McPartland.

Maureen dedicated her life to caring for others and making a positive difference in her community. She earned a Nursing Degree from D'Youville College in Buffalo, New York. Her passion for helping others allowed her to touch the lives of countless individuals. Her giving nature extended into all aspects of her life. She had an unyielding love for her faith, family, and friends. She actively participated in church activities and found solace in her beliefs. Maureen cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating lasting memories through shared experiences.

She is survived by her children Raymond Sumera of Huntsville, Patrick Sumera of Huntsville, Katherine Buchheit (Matthew) of Madison, and David Sumera of Chicago; Granddaughters Katherine and Margaret Sumera, and Ashley and Megan Buchheit; Siblings Jack McPartland and Shirley Jeter (Bill). 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-Robert McPartland

With a warm smile and a compassionate heart, Maureen touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her unwavering faith, and her commitment to her loved ones leave an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her enthusiam and cheerful demeanor will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral service will be held October 13 with a rosary at 12:30PM and mass at 1:00PM at St John the Baptist Catholic Church. Inurnment of the cremains will follow the mass at St John the Baptist Catholic Church Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Maureen Sumera to Catholic Center of Concern.
