Michael Berger Erickson

October 14, 1941 — April 3, 2026

Athens

Michael “Mike” B. Erickson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 84 in Athens, Alabama. The son of Everett and Betty (Harper) Erickson, he was born on October 14, 1941, in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He graduated with a BS degree from Milton College and with honors from Wayne State University School of Mortuary Science. After working with his father and grandfather at the Erickson and Son funeral home in Iron Mountain he lived in Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama.

Mike lived a rich life focused on family and good times and was a man full of stories and joy. We fondly remember the transition from early slide shows of the Milwaukee Zoo for his sons’ grade school classes to information sheets for his grandchildren. Mike had many roles, from “camp chef” to “ringleader” of gatherings with family and friends including many events in Maynardville, Tennessee. At these events, all were young at heart and enjoyed his fun stories, card games, “adult beverages,” and a great love of family, friends, and life.

He is survived by Ann Erickson, his wife of almost 25 years filled with love and good times; sons: Thor (Terry), Rolf (June), and Kirk (Donna); stepsons: Jonathan (Jessica) and Ryan; brother: Jeff (Jane); thirteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren; cousin Stacy; and many good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Betty, and brother Steve.

Paw – may you rest gently, free from earthly burdens and pain, and be at peace with the Lord. Say hi to our heavenly family whom you often said looked down on your earthly family proudly.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Limestone County, PO Box 626, Athens, AL 35612.
