Michael Francis Louque, age 60, passed away on December 14, 2025. Michael was born on September 14, 1965, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and lived a life shaped by curiosity, quiet generosity, and a deep devotion to his faith.
Michael is survived by his children, Lindsey Louque and Ryan Louque and his wife, Dakota; his three sisters, Susan Louque, Jeanne Louque, and Lisa Louque; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. He was the only son of Frances “Franny” and Francis Louque, who preceded him in death.
Growing up in Louisiana, Michael loved being outdoors, especially when it meant feeling the sun on his back and the wind in his hair. At Lee High School, he competed in track and cross-country, beginning a lifelong love of running. He was socially active and widely liked, known among friends for his earnest curiosity, his desire to do good, and his big, unmistakable laugh.
A proud LSU Tiger, Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University. He later completed a Master’s degree in Software Engineering from Monmouth College, continuing a lifelong pursuit of learning and problem-solving.
Michael began his engineering career with the U.S. Army’s TMDE Activity, a path that ultimately led him to settle in Huntsville, Alabama. Over the course of his career, he served as Lead Engineer, Product Director, and Subject Matter Expert, making lasting contributions to the programs he supported. He wrote the calibration and repair environment that is still in use by the US Army Calibrators in both CONUS and OCONUS laboratories. He took particular pride in his membership with NCSL International, a volunteer-based nonprofit dedicated to technical excellence in calibration, testing, and measurement.
At the center of Michael’s life was his devotion to Christ. He was famously frugal with himself and generously giving to others, living his faith in practical, often quiet ways. A founding member of Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish, Michael found deep fulfillment in volunteering with his congregation and participating in Scripture studies.
A public visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 11:00 AM, at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Parish, followed by a Funeral Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s memory to the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Comprehensive Diabetes Research Acceleration Fund at uab.edu/medicine/diabetes/giving.
