Michiko Ishibashi Robertson was born November 13, 1947, in Tokyo, Japan. She was the second daughter of Asao and Toshiko (Kumada) Ishibashi. Both parents died in 1956 and she was raised by her maternal Grandmother, Tomo Kumada. She attended Toyama Elementary School in Shinjuku, Tokyo, and Nishiyama Junior High School, also in Shinjuku. She graduated from Meguro Senior High School in Meguro, Tokyo, in 1966 with a very good command of English. She worked for a year for a concession at the Tachikawa Exchange Bazaar on Tachikawa Air Base, but when she became a Christian, she changed jobs to work at Jordan Press as a secretary for Missionary Worth Grant. At age 20, she married 1st Lt James M. Robertson Jr, of the U.S. Air Force. She attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and Louisiana State University before receiving her Associate of Science in Computer Science from Southeastern Louisiana University. She worked as the Computer Technician for the State of Louisiana Migrant Program from 1985 until moving to Little Rock, AR in 1988. At that point, she became a Household Management Specialist. She accompanied her husband who was teaching for the Department of Defense Dependent Schools at Iwakuni MCAS, Japan, and Misawa AB, Japan. They moved to Huntsville, AL in 2010, after her husband retired from teaching, to reside near her daughter Michelle Benton and family. She passed from this life to sing in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2025. She was predeceased by both parents, her grandmother, and her older sister, Keiko (Satoh). She is survived by her husband James Robertson Jr of Huntsville, AL, her two children Michelle Benton, (husband Robert), living in Huntsville, her son Jerry Robertson, (wife Francis Juneau), living in Paulina, LA, and 10 grandchildren in the United States; a cousin, Miyoko, a niece, Azusa, two nephews, Hotaka Satoh and Ginta Satoh, and four grandnephews in Tokyo, Japan. Her ashes will be interred at Huntsville Memory Gardens in Huntsville, AL. A memorial service will be held at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home and Crematorium at 2:00 PM on July 26, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, 240 Johnston St., Decatur, AL 35602.
