Phillip Louis Lindsey

Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, Phillip spent his early years in East Tennessee and Auburn, Alabama. After graduating from DeKalb County High School in Fort Payne in 1952, he pursued his passion for aviation at Auburn University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Administration in 1956. He then served his country as an Air Transportation Officer in the United States Air Force. 

Following his military service, Phillip embarked on a 34-year career with The Boeing Company, where he applied his passion in aeronautics as an Airline Analyst in Commercial Airplanes and held various managerial positions in Seattle, WA. and Huntsville, AL.

Phillip was a beloved husband, father, uncle and grandfather, survived by his wife, Judy; his children, Elizabeth (Shane) and Cynthia; his stepchildren, Brad (Gina) and Cindy (Richard); seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He will be missed by family and friends.

Phillip had a deep love for sports, travel, and learning--- passions he and Judy shared throughout their life together. He was an avid tennis player, competing in several USTA state and regional championship teams. He served for 14 years with the National Ski Patrol and became an active member of the Huntsville Ski Club, enjoying ski trips across the U.S. and beyond.

He had a passion for travel, visiting every state in the U.S. and exploring countries across the world, often joining scholar-led journeys. At one time, he raised and showed Racking Horses, and he served as the treasurer for the National Racking Horse Association for several years, helping to support and promote the breed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Messiah Lutheran Church. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, The Nature Conservancy, Land Trust of North Alabama or Hospice Foundation of America.
