RaeAnne Mulcahy

RaeAnne Mulcahy, 80, of Madison, AL, passed away on May 25, 2026, after a brief illness.

Born in Danville, IL, in 1946 to Claire Harding Snyder and Charles Snyder, RaeAnne was valedictorian of her class at Georgetown High School. She graduated from the Decatur Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, earning awards for Highest Academic Average and Best All-Around Student. She later earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, cum laude, from Millikin University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Michigan, where she was elected to the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. She briefly served as a clinical specialist at the Mayo Clinic.

At the center of RaeAnne's life was the family she and her husband, Dr. John Mulcahy, built together, raising four children in Zionsville, IN. The heart of their home was a round table where family gathered, memories were made, and her homemade fried chicken and ice cream became cherished traditions. She brought that same warmth to decorating for each holiday and designing beautiful floral arrangements, filling their home with color and care throughout the year. RaeAnne found happiness in life's simple comforts such as the warmth of a soft blanket, fresh outdoor air, and the arrival of spring when the roses burst into bloom. Her intelligence, kindness, creativity, and devotion to her family left an indelible mark on all who knew her. While she found joy in life's simple pleasures, there was nothing simple about the impact she had on those she loved.

RaeAnne is survived by her devoted husband, Dr. John Mulcahy; her daughters, Lori Kidd (Noel) of San Francisco, CA, and Maureen Mulcahy of Portland, OR; her son, Mark Mulcahy of Los Angeles, CA; and her cherished grandchildren, Annabel and Alex Kidd. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Mulcahy; her parents, Claire and Charles Snyder; her brother, David Snyder; and her sister, Donna Beane.
