Ret. Col. Larry Mac Pigue, age 85, of Huntsville passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born to Dewey and Wilma Mc Donald Pigue on December 12, 1940, in Paragould Arkansas.
Larry obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Arkansas State University, and later a master’s degree in Operational Research and Systems Analysis from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA.
After Larry completed ROTC, he was commissioned by the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Department of Army, Corp of Engineers. After twenty-six and a half years of service he retired in 1990 as a full Colonel. In his tenure he served overseas in Germany, Turkey, and in London as the Liaison Officer between the US and UK. He also served two tours in Vietnam. After retirement from the military, he worked thirty years as a Program Manager for both SAIC and Parsons.
Larry was a member of Skyline Baptist Church, and he attended the chapel at Redstone Arsenal. Some of his special interests and hobbies include racquet ball and Barbershop Quartet singing. Larry was very active in “The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children” serving on the board for eighteen years.
Larry is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Janice E. Crook Pigue; daughters, Tammy Brannen of Huntsville, Alabama, Cathey Botwright and her husband, Nathan, of Virgina Beach, Virginia; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Melissa Brannen.
Services will be held Friday, June 5, 2026, at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home, 16 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758. The visitation will be from 10:00-11:00AM and will be immediately followed by a funeral service at 11:00AM. Larry will be laid to rest in Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould, AR on June 6th, 2026.
