Mr. Rickey Lee Todd, age 80, of Madison, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, surrounded by his family. A loving husband, father, educator, and man of deep faith, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and commitment to his family, students, and community.
Born in March 1945, Rickey proudly served his country as a medic in the United States Army. His compassion and courage during his military service laid the foundation for a lifetime dedicated to helping others. After the Army, Rickey attended Auburn University, graduating with a degree in Education. He spent the next 34 years guiding students with wisdom, patience, and genuine care.
Rickey was an active and faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Boaz for many decades, where he served as a Deacon. He quietly lived his beliefs through acts of service, encouragement, and hospitality, always welcoming everyone with his warm smile and gentle humor.
Rickey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Lynn Todd; his son, Lee William Todd; and his daughter-in-law, Sarah Pettigrew Todd along with sisters Diane Williams and Connie Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nonnie and Nubert Todd, and his brother, Hollis Todd.
Those who knew Rickey will remember him for his quick wit, warm heart, and generous spirit. His legacy continues in the family he cherished, the students he inspired, and the community he served.
A celebration of Rickey’s life will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Madison on Friday, June 20th. Visitation will begin at 12 pm, with the funeral service at 1 pm, followed by burial at the adjoining cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Rickey’s family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
