Rob Satterwhite of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away suddenly of natural causes on October 8th, 2025. He leaves behind his true love, Ashely, to whom he was married for 21 wonderful years.
Rob was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 12th, 1976. He graduated from Pelham High School in 1994 before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Air & Space Operations Technology from Wayland Baptist University. He then went on to earn his Masters Degree in the same from Henley-Putnam School of Strategic Security in 2017.
Rob was very proud to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force where he honorably served six years of non-combat active duty. His service took him numerous places- a few included beautiful Anchorage, Alaska, Iraq, Baghdad, and many places in between. After his service was completed, he was equally proud to work as an Intelligence Officer for the Defense Intelligence Agency, DIA/MSIC (Missile and Space Intelligence Center) from 2006-2025. Rob was responsible for taking source data to analyze trends in foreign weapons capabilities and technologies. His efforts provided scientific and technical intelligence assessments to support U.S. and allied forces, weapons developers, and policymakers.
His time with the military and D.I.A. wasn’t all work. His position allowed he and Ashely to travel extensively and even live abroad in Alaska and Germany for several years. Some of their favorite travels included Croatia, the Christmas Markets of Germany, skiing in the Swiss Alps, La Montagne Des Singes in Kintzheim France, and exploring the national parks of Alaska. Remarkably, Rob somehow found time to author his novel, The Timeliner, which took his military knowledge and grand imagination to create a beautiful story of science, mission, love, and hope. I encourage any that have not had the pleasure of reading it to do so.
When Rob wasn’t working or traveling, he enjoyed the great outdoors. He loved it all; fishing, camping, and hunting on his family land in Sylacauga, Alabama.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Rob was smart, warm, kind, loyal, and incredibly fun. He had an excellent sense of humor, and was a very gifted storyteller. He had a beautiful singing voice that he would often showcase during nights out singing karaoke. He loved his family and cherished his friends- and he showed it. Rob’s absence will leave a tremendous hole in the lives of all who knew and loved him. He will be forever loved and never, ever forgotten.
Rob is survived by his wife, Ashely; his parents, Maureen H. Satterwhite and Robert H. Satterwhite Sr.; his sister, Samantha Sullivan (Thom) and nephew, Jack; Step-mother, Cheryl Satterwhite; and in-laws Steve Sidebottom and Ryan Sidebottom; as well as his aunts, many cousins, and dear friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Margie and Dwight Satterwhite and Tommie and Paul Hollis.
The memorial service will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison, Alabama. Visitation will be begin at 1:00PM, followed by service at 2:00PM.
