Roxane Robertson

Roxane Delight Freeman Robertson, born on June 4th, 1957, in Huntsville, AL, peacefully passed away on July 8th, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was the cherished firstborn child of Russell and Floris Freeman.

Roxane graduated from Lee High School in 1975, where she forged a lifelong connection with her high school sweetheart, Bill Robertson. On June 21st, 1975, they embarked on a joyous journey of marriage. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, Roxane obtained a degree in Accounting from Athens State University. However, her true passion lay in early childhood education, where she dedicated her career to making a profound impact on countless children and families in the Madison area. For many years, she served as the esteemed Director of First Baptist CDC and later Asbury Methodist CDC, leaving an indelible mark on the community.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Roxane found immense joy in cooking meals for her loved ones and basking in the warmth of family gatherings. She delighted in the tranquility of beachside retreats and nurtured a fascination for collecting "Gone with the Wind" and Titanic memorabilia. Although her heart belonged to Madison, she embarked on an extraordinary chapter of her life when she resided in Port Elizabeth, South Africa for a year with her beloved husband.

Roxane's unwavering spirit endured through incredible challenges. Overcoming two strokes and encephalitis in South Africa, she showcased her tenacity by relearning essential skills such as walking, eating, and reading. She faced blindness with unwavering courage, and by the grace of God, she was bestowed with the miraculous gift of sight, embodying the essence of a true survivor.

Roxane was preceded in death by her loving mother, Floris Freeman, and her dear nephew, Nicholas Walker. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and resilience, cherished by her father, Russell Freeman; devoted husband, Bill Robertson; adoring son, Cameron Robertson; daughter Jessie (Tom) Jones; daughter Kristen (Jon) Lawing; and her treasured grandchildren, Bella Jones, Webb Lawing, and Rhett Lawing. She is also survived by her siblings, Stephen Freeman, Teresa Rose Walker, and Leila Freeman, sister in law Trish (Tommy) Cornell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and her beloved pug, Daisy, who brought her great joy.

Roxane's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her profound impact on the lives of others and her unwavering spirit will continue to inspire for generations to come. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her heavenly abode.
